Shipping is notoriously cyclical. It may not be at the mercy of Poseidon, but it sure is at the mercy of the global economy.
Even as most worldwide economic indicators have shown improvement, the Baltic Dry Bulk Shipping Index has been hinting otherwise. Are calmer waters ahead for the Shipping ETF? Or is the Baltic Dry Shipping Index telling us that there’s trouble off the starboard bow?
