Go Green? Go European? The 10 Riskiest ETFs For Investors

During the 2010 Superbowl commercials, keep an eye out for “Green Car of the Year” winner, the Audi A3 TDI. The advertisement features rock band “Cheap Trick” as it re-records its 70’s hit, “Dream Police,” as the “Green Police.”

In spite of corporations putting their greenest feet forward, investors should be nervous. If crude oil reamins at $75 per barrel, and if “climateers” lose more momentum, there’s a lot less reason to believe that greener investments will be profitable in the intermediate run.

Similarly, the Euro is now at a 7-month low versus the U.S. dollar. The worrying over sovereign debt default/restructuring for Greece, Spain and Italy has been hammering equity markets in the region.

These realities, coupled with a wide variety of data points (e.g., fundamental, technical, historical, etc.), have led me to issue Risk Alerts at the highest end of the range. Here’s a sample of 10 of the riskiest ETFs from my ETF Risk Alert Service at the present time.
