A chief strategist at UBS has upgraded the iShares S&P Global Telecom (IXP) and¬†the iShares S&P Global Heath Care (IXJ)¬†from neutral to moderately bullish. His argument?¬†Defensive segments¬†fare better¬†as¬†bull markets mature.
For those who use¬†defensive assets¬†for more conservative portfolios,¬†recent results for¬†Healthcare ETFs¬†have been remarkable. For instance,¬†both iShares DJ Pharma (IHE) and¬†iShares Biotech (IBB) are up roughly 10% in one month’s time.
In fact, defensive sectors (e.g., healthcare, consumer staples) as well as Dividend ETFs have been regularly appearing on the “52-Week Highs” list. If you’re still¬†squeamish about getting in,¬†these less risky positions may be just what the doctor ordered.
