Why Health Care ETFs And Telecom ETFs Are Receiving Analyst Upgrades
20 April 2011 at 9:30 am by Staff
A chief strategist at UBS has upgraded the iShares S&P Global Telecom (IXP) and the iShares S&P Global Heath Care (IXJ) from neutral to moderately bullish. His argument? Defensive segments fare better as bull markets mature.
For those who use defensive assets for more conservative portfolios, recent results for Healthcare ETFs have been remarkable. For instance, both iShares DJ Pharma (IHE) and iShares Biotech (IBB) are up roughly 10% in one month’s time.
In fact, defensive sectors (e.g., healthcare, consumer staples) as well as Dividend ETFs have been regularly appearing on the “52-Week Highs” list. If you’re still squeamish about getting in, these less risky positions may be just what the doctor ordered.
